The South County Mental Health Center in Delray Beach received a $53,000 donation from GL Homes to combat COVID-19. The donation will pay for ultraviolet lights, which have been proven to reduce the spread of viruses and bacteria. These new UV lights, which will be installed in the air conditioning units, will help keep the mental health center residents, clients and staff safe.
The South County Mental Health Center presented GL Homes with its 2021 Friend of South County Award. This award is presented to an organization that demonstrates great support of the center and places importance on mental health awareness.
“Ultraviolet lights in the air conditioning units have been proven to reduce the spread of viruses and bacteria. Early on when the pandemic started, we had UV lights installed in our main Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). It appears as if they were tremendously effective in our low COVID cases. We are greatly appreciative to GL Homes in helping us keep our residents, clients and staff safe!” said South County Mental Health Center CEO Joe Speicher.
South County Mental Health Center (SCMHC) is a state-chartered, nonprofit health care organization in operation in Florida since 1974. SCMHC is a major provider of mental health services to residents of south Palm Beach County.
