Johane Saintil has a lot to look forward to as she heads off to Florida International University (FIU) in Miami this summer. Johane, who resided at Youth Haven for eight months, enjoyed a college dorm shopping trip at Walmart in Naples thanks to the GL Homes Good Night’s Sleep initiative.
Armed with a long wish list of her essential items, Johane and GL Homes VP/Project Manager Dianna Betancourt walked up and down the Walmart isles filling shopping carts full of must-have items for dorm life. GL Homes purchased $2,500 worth of goods for Johane.
From sheets and towels to a large laundry basket and a dorm fridge, Johane will now be able to put her best foot forward as she embarks on her new journey as a college student.
Good Night’s Sleep initiative provides all the furnishings to make a house a home. It’s essential for people transitioning from homelessness to a place of their own to have the necessary creature comforts.
Youth Haven provides home, hope and healing for traumatized, abused, neglected and homeless children and teens in Southwest Florida.
