Women Build is a call to action for women looking to better their community and spread awareness of the challenges for families who can’t afford decent housing. It empowers women volunteers to participate in an exciting experience constructing a home for a local family.
Each family participating with Habitat must complete 300 hours of sweat equity before moving in. They work alongside Habitat volunteers to build their own homes. Additionally, Habitat families are required to take homebuyer education classes, covering topics like budgeting and retirement planning, to help them succeed in their new homes.
About 250 dedicated volunteers worked tirelessly throughout the weeklong event, constructing townhomes for deserving families. Among them, fifteen GL Homes volunteers, both men and women, collaborated with future Habitat homeowners to work on eight homesites. The team participated for one day during this impactful event and committed a $10K donation.
Since 1991, Habitat’s Women Build volunteers have collaborated with other inspiring women to transform lives and assist families in achieving safe, decent, and affordable housing. This year marks the 14th annual Women Build for Habitat for Humanity of Broward.
