Now in its second year, the GL Homes Annual Alan Fant Philanthropic Hero Award honors a GL Homes employee who embodies community, philanthropy and a commitment to making a difference in the communities where we live and work. The award is named after our dear colleague and friend, Senior VP Alan Fant, who recently retired after more than 39 years with GL Homes.
Our annual philanthropic hero award recipient selects a charity of choice to receive a $5,000.00 donation. GL Homes Vice President/Project Manager Dianna Betancourt, a Naples native, who is this year’s award recipient, selected Youth Haven of SW Florida.
Youth Haven of Southwest Florida provides a safe harbor for traumatized, abused, neglected and homeless children and teens.
For many years, Dianna has volunteered her time, energy, compassion and commitment to numerous, impactful Southwest Florida nonprofits such as St. Matthew’s House, an organization providing emergency and long-term housing to people experiencing homelessness in Collier and Lee Counties.
Dianna volunteers for the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida bagging groceries and meals for food insecure families. www.harrychapinfoodbank.org
Dianna has taken a leadership role to organize an annual Christmas party for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lee County in Fort Myers. She oversees a Christmas shopping experience where these children select gifts for their parents, teaching these kids the true spirit of giving.
This dedicated GL Homes employee volunteers for Youth Haven, an emergency shelter for homeless teens in Naples and has expertly assisted Youth Haven’s formerly homeless teens to help them shop for college and for their first apartments.
