Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County children eagerly anticipated the unveiling of a long-awaited playground at the Park Meadows Club in Fort Myers. It’s a labor of love from Florida homebuilder GL Homes, part of the company’s Passion for Playgrounds initiative.
The $127,000 expansive playground project includes a large shade structure to protect the children from the unrelenting summer sun, soccer goals and bleachers. The professional-quality playground includes three slides, climbers and connectors. The playground opens just in time for summer camp and outdoor fun.
GL Homes Vice President of Community Relations Sarah Alsofrom enthused, “We’re as excited as the kids! A child’s joy and delight playing on a playground is contagious. Our Passion for Playgrounds initiative has been around since 2017, and this is the second playground GL Homes has built for Boys & Girls Clubs.” GL Homes built a playground for Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County in Port St. Lucie in 2020.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County is the first organization on Florida’s west coast that GL Homes selected as a Passion for Playgrounds recipient.
GL Homes also serves as the title sponsor of GL Homes and Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County’s Annual Holiday Gift Drive and sponsors an adopt-a-club holiday party for children and teens every December.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County enables all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.
