As students across Palm Beach County head back to the classroom, Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches is helping children experiencing homelessness begin the school year with confidence, comfort and a sense of belonging.
Now in its second year, the organization’s school uniform distribution initiative provided 170 children and teens living at Adopt-A-Family’s Lake Worth Campus and emergency shelter with a new polo shirt, a pair of pants and brand-new sneakers. The essentials help ensure students arrive on their first day of school feeling prepared, confident and ready to learn.
As the largest provider of services for families experiencing homelessness in Palm Beach County, Adopt-A-Family works year-round to help families move from crisis to stability. Through housing assistance, case management, educational support and other wraparound services, the nonprofit empowers families to build brighter, more secure futures.
The uniform distribution was made possible through the support of GL Homes. For the children and teens served, the event was about far more than new school clothes. It offered an opportunity to start the school year with dignity, confidence and the reassurance that their community is invested in their success.
Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches is dedicated to helping families facing homelessness and housing instability achieve stability and self-sufficiency. Since 1983, they have provided comprehensive services to over 2,000 families annually, including housing assistance, financial support, and educational programs.
