Holiday celebrations may look different this year but that didn’t stop the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County from hosting its annual Gathering of Gratitude. At this live, virtual donor appreciation event the Boys & Girls Clubs presented awards to several St. Lucie County movers and shakers.
GL Homes Director of Community Relations Sarah Alsofrom received the 2020 Woman & Youth Award for her advocacy of and contribution toward the betterment of the organization’s children and teens. Sarah, who leads GL Homes’ charitable arm (glhomesphilanthropy.com) has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the Treasure Coast nonprofit.
GL Homes was the first corporate partner of the Club 25 annual capital campaign and provided the lead gift for the organization’s transportation initiative by donating a new $52,000, 15-passenger van. During the pandemic, the van has been used to deliver essential food and staples to Club members and their families.
In December 2020, the Boys & Girls Clubs hosted a socially-distant, outdoor ribbon cutting at its Ken Pruitt Unit in Port St. Lucie for the GL Homes playground. The $50,000 project, part of GL Homes’ Passion for Playgrounds initiative was a labor of love. The professional-quality playground took 10 months and 100 hours to design, develop and build.
